welcome to silence of the abyss, a sci-fi animanga roleplay. we are set in the year 2070, just five years after the zhuic invasion on earth. we welcome you to chronos vii, a planet far from the solar system which we once called home, filled with beautiful creatures and intelligent life. while their world may seem similar to ours, there are differences everywhere, from the giant trees holding the onzhu to the ice sheets that cover 49% of the planet, home of the iraxu. on this planet you will find that which you least expect. you may find adventure, you may find romance, you may even find yourself in a tight situation. it all depends on what you find within the silence of the abyss.

the creator of both sota and the mother site, space adventures, kyuu is one hell of an admin. she can keep a 'calm' attitude in just about any situation, though she's secretly laughing on the other side of the screen. what? if the situation amuses her, she'll laugh, even if she's getting screamed at by a member. she has a tendency to procrastinate, but reminding her will kick her into gear. she's relatively easy to get along with, and she'll try to make your experience here a good one.

this girl has been with the creator from the start. not only do they live in the same state, but they met on one hell of a forum. she was a mod on space adventures and has now climbed the ladder up to administrator for sota. she's full of ideas, so she's a go-to person when kyuu can't think of anything. she also likes to talk in neon green with her caps lock on, so don't be afraid when you first enter the chatbox. she's easy to get along with, though she, too, has a tendency to procrastinate. well, what good staff member doesn't? hehe.

well, it's safe to say all the staff members know each other from another site. this one lives in canada, unlike the others who live in america, and is always a joy to be around. her favorite character just so happens to be lemongrab, and anyone else would simply be UNACCEPTABLE! ONE MILLION YEARS DUNGEON. ahem. she likes her ohnzu with their cute little wings and their bee-like ways. she isn't biased. no, not at all.

SUMMER, 2070 -- YEAR ONE
it's summer on chronos vii, also known as the hottest six months you will even experience. yes, six months. it's the longest season on chronos vii, and it can reach temperatures up to 170°F during the day. it is advised that no one leaves their homes until dusk, when the temperatures drops back down to the 90's. to those who have lived in the heat of chronos vii, that is pretty cold for the summer. expect intense heat and harsh sunlight during the day. heavy thunderstorms and lightning storms may appear from time to time. do not go outside during these storms as the rain will be boiling hot to the touch. to those who are living in the polar icecaps, you will be seeing some melting ice and snow. do not fret, however, as the temperature is only going to reach 40°F, allowing for the wildlife to thrive for the next few months.

all the boringly important threads can be found inside here. please read through everything for a better understanding of the site. staff are also willing to answer questions, but they may point you in the direction of this board if it's held within.
when something big happens on the site, the staff will be sure to inform the public about it here. this may be a change in plot, perhaps a newspaper when they actually track down important threads, or even a poll. of the months will be held here as well.
you can talk about pretty much anything here. just be sure to keep to the rules, and please do not link anyone off site. if you post youtube videos, please keep them in url form, making them the only off site links we will allow.
GUEST FRIENDLY. all sites posted here must be hosted proboards, invisionfree, jcink, zetaboards, or forumotion. we do not allow advertisements that break our graphics rules (meaning no nudity), and we do not allow advertisements to mating simulation sites. just... no. also, if we cannot post on your site, then your advertisement will be deleted.
you cannot roleplay without a character. that is common knowledge. the form we give is pretty simple, and you are free to customize it however you see fit. just remember to keep the basic outline within it. once you are finished, please wait for a staff member to accept your bio and move it before roleplaying.
the best part about a roleplay is the plots you create with your fellow members. just about anything goes! just don't start making civil wars and other things like that without the creator's permission. site-wide plots require all the admins to help plan it out. you're free to make every other plot possible: kidnappings, crime sprees, drama, drama, more drama, etc.
since we are a one account per person site, you need a way to keep up with all your characters. the best way is to create a tracker, or one thread with all your characters in it. this is the only place you can post multiple times, and no one else is allowed to post in your tracker. you can keep track of everything, from threads to relationships, for each character.

zorroq city is the largest city on chronos vii. the buildings reach to the sky and above, and a good 47% of the planet's population live within the city. drones litter the streets, doing the meaningless tasks no one wants to do, like washing the windows or keeping the streets clean. there isn't an actual road on the ground, instead having floating street lights as the cars fly around on a guided path. it's basically your average futuristic alien city.
a smaller city, zhaccush is a little more rundown than you would expect after seeing zorroq. the buildings aren't nearly as high, and the overall location is a bit shady. it's dangerous at night, and the pollution is high despite zhuic attempts at keeping it under control.
just as the name says, it's... a valley! the valleys are extensive, with small springs littered throughout it. the sky stays relatively clear, and rain is rare. livestock roam the lands, and you can find a few zhuic farms here and there.
stretching high into the sky, the mountains are home to many nomadic families and nomadic creatures. large birds circle in the sky, and their screeches have been known to cause landslides. be careful when trekking through the mountains.
it may seem weird to see a river of lava, constantly streaming from an unknown source. it isn't so weird here as the lava that creates this river never hardens until it falls off a cliff. hostile creatures made of molten lava call this place their home, leaving scorch marks wherever they tread.
anafeh was once a huge castle that loomed over the river of lava. now, however, it is nothing more than ruins, having long since been destroyed through war. the place is claimed to be haunted, though the zhuic have just passed it off as sounds and movements from lava rats and bats that have made the place their home.
the forest of apodez is home to the onzhu. they protect the forest the best they can, though they are too weak to truly defend it. the forest creatures are relatively tame, however, as long as they aren't carnivorous. in the dead center of the forest is the largest tree called the tree of luif. there, you will find the main hive.
taking up 49% of the planet, the ice sheets are home to the iraxu. it's barren and cold here, and the only seasons are winter and summer. if you search long enough, you may find a forest of ice in the middle of what should be a frozen over sea. herds of large grazing animals can be found here, along with packs of ebulos (large wolf-like creatures) and ozujo (large polar bear-like creatures).
WARNING: RESTRICTED AREA! not everyone gets to make it to space. not everyone can even make it out of the gravitational pull of chronos vii without the aid of a zhuic ship, and normally those ships will just be there to shoot the other ship down. this board is just the space around chronos vii, so your ship can only orbit around it or reside just far enough to keep out of the planet's gravitational pull. oh, the moons also reside here.
